2000 Gallon tank and stand

Egon I started flipping through your 1100 gallon setup.thats a real nice setup. love how you built it into the wall.
Thank you. That was a fun project. The wall I built keeps all the noise, humidity, smells out of the house. It turned out to be a great idea.

I’m thinking about using a 4x8 sheet of acrylic to make a single window. If I have 3” of support all the way around the window, making the viewing panel 42”x92” would 1.5” thick acrylic be enough or should I go with 2”.

There’s a lot of acrylic calculators out there. 100% recommend using one.

FYI: Put some time into researching plywood builds. 99% leak if they are over 2 feet deep, top to bottom.
Initially I wanted to do this and then started planning a concrete tank. Then I found the biggest tank I could fit through my front door 🤣
Keep it simple…

+1…. Tank height is a killer of alot of tanks… i wouldnt go over 4’ height with 1.5” acrylic. 1” acrylic can do 48”x48”… the extra .5 should let u squeak by with a 4’x8’ even with 3” full surround and middle brace/s up top of the tank.

Alot of ponds with windows do what ur proposing… im not sure of the “offset” calculations when ur window is technically only 4’ deep in a 6’ deep tank for example. I think the same rules apply for how deep the glass itself is not the actual tank depth. Not 100% on that tho.

Do you guys have a link or know of a calculator that works. I’ve tried using the ones on here and one from acrylite. They all say file not found or have some form of error pop up. I would like to punch in some different numbers just to see what I can and cannot do.

Im planning on copying aquarium domains plywood builds he does. He does a stacked 2x4 frame, he uses 1/2” tempered glass and fiberglasses all seems with strand mat three times and does the entire tank once. His tanks are usually 4’ high. Maybe I’m getting a little overkill and maybe out to lunch with going that high to hahaha. Thanks for the help

I’ve also watched the king of diy his 2000 he uses 1.5” acrylic but I’m not sure how much the depth (front to back) afffects it or if it’s still just a 4x8 window at 48” deep.
It’s kinda funny a few months ago I had all the plans drawn out and thought I knew what was doing now I’m changing everything again lol.
