2010 RTC Growing Contest

We have officially hit the 7" mark after roughly a month and a half of growing! (bought at 2.5")

Good find this week!! Went to a yard sale and bought a box of aquarium stuff for $5!! Got a heater, airpump, 2 hob filters, a powerhead, a new 10g lid, 3 impellers....and last but not least - A CANISTER FILTER!! I think it is a marineland one...and it works great! Fixed it up and ran thru saltwater for a day to disinfect and it's keeping the water much cleaner. Anticipating the move to the 180 sometime this week because of the upgrade.

Little Copernicus is growing fast.

Got a confirmed 16" today outta little ronnie. He went off eating for a few days after a bad bit of food I bought him. Loves to be pet now. Added a few moss balls to the pond for extra filtration and all he does is play with them so im going to buy a few dog toys and fill em with enough sand so they sink, that way he has something else to roll around all day. How is eveybody else comming?

here is a link to the tank my lil guy is in. If you go to the last page you can see a pic of his newest tank mate. Sadly I got the 300 set up just before having to go back to school so my cats and tanks sit with my rents. heading home this weekend so will update then.

so smiles is 12" on the money. After taking away his caves he is moving more. Last night at feeding time him and the TSN both hand feed and let me pet them I may not have the biggest but I do have the fattest.

Tanks 120 gallon had an algae bloom causing the water to turn green. After numerous trys to get rid of it naturally, I had to use chemicals. Cleared up in 4 hours completely, but he went on a food strike for 3-4 days. He is eating well again, I stuffed him the most I have in a long time before these pics. He is somewhere between 12 and 15 inches. Pics were taken with my cell phone... not the greatest quality.

just wondering have any of you guys had problems with gill curl or what looks like your rtc is gasping for air. I have two power heads running as well as two bubble stones so plenty of air.

You can over oxygenate water. Fwi.anyway gill curl is from poor water quality. What are your water tests like?

I dont test my water it comes from a well. I used to do test but the more i messed with the water the more fish I would loose. I do weekly water changes of about 45% water and every other water change i clean out the sponge filters. Because I clean the sponges on a water change i haven't cleaned out my canister filter.
