cool fish. Do you have any more pictures on him? So this is an example of a fish that lives in both fresh and salt water, but you rarely see big adults live in pure freshwater. So how does the osmosis to keep the equilibrium theory hold in these fish? Are they made different? How come people don't jump in and say that these fish "must be moved" into salt water as they grow, lol?

Specialized chloride cells in secondary lamellae in the gill tissue. Anadromous and catadromous fish can reverse their chloride cells practically at will (over the span of a couple weeks) so I don't see why it would be an issue, though my specialty is more with Salmonids.

poeciliadae (mollies, swordfish, guppies), salmonidae, oreochromis, sarthradon sp (live and spawn in fresh or salt water), amphilophous sp. (costa rica-live in ocean), lutjanus sp. (Australia landlocked), cetropomus sp. (in landlocked lakes Florida), Megalops (both species), Lates calcarifer (barramundi) , and I could name dozens more, so these all have this "speciliazed cell" ? I skipped all the common brackish stuff. Also hear of alligator gars in the ocean in Louisiana, and sturgeons,

Not often that someone has a golden getting photobombed by their platinum!

Baller.

Pretty much. I can give you a bunch of links to scientific papers if you'd like.
