2014 is upon us ... What will the fish fad be in 2014

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
polys run their course not long ago... so have pbass.. who knows what the fads will be this year.. My guess is ATF's... I know I'm scaling back on fish, only keeping a few dedicated tanks.. and wanting to get back into birds. Love our fish but our 2yr old is taking great interest in other pets, and the idea of her hand/fingers in the pool scares me... so I imagine a rabbit will be in our future... also want to spend more time w/ my horse. I will miss our big guys but I look forward to teaching our kids about other pets out there as well as fish, and by no means are we done w/ fish.. 5yrs is the goal too build our dream set-up in the basement.

Another good one. I had one back in the 80's, very cool fish.

Buy one. They're awesome. I have mine in a ten gallon and I swear he is as responsive as my red devil. Definitely an underrated fish.

I really like Bettas as well but want a community of them but due to their aggersiveness I have been told you can keep them together.

I don't think it will be fish related. I think it will be equipment related that will take the forefront of 2014. We'll see better lighting (LEDs), better self contained modular filtration units, improved designs on pumps (to make them cheaper and cooler to run), and more 'turn key' style aquariums (with lights and filtration built in).

I think they are focusing much more on the technology side of things too. Hoping to see some new DC pumps with a even lower draw.

Fish wise, I know down here Africans are taking off again, Personally I just want a second rtc :D a Lince would make me a very happy man but I think I have more chances walking to china :(

I think more aquaponic wise setups will be more common. I am trying to get a stronger light so I can get a little refugium going in my HOB filters.
