My oldest fish at the moment will be:
Cichlasoma amazonarum "rio esmeraldas" "gold" F0 - possibly 7 years old based on growth rates, at least 6
Amatitlania nanolutea (pair) - possibly 5-6 years old just based on growth rates, had for 3
Amatitlania nigrofasciata "platinum" - 5 years old in June, his kids will be 3 as well
Herotilapia multispinosa - probably 5 or 6, maybe older, had for like 3 years and got her old to begin with
Neolamprologus cygnus - 4 years old
Not old compared to the 20-30 year old pacu or catfish on here, but pretty good I'd say.

Yes if you are managing to keep fish for several years and they are still going strong then I reckon you have mastered fishkeeping and are doing pretty well.

Don't rest on your laurels though. Keep trying to improve things. I try and make at least one thing better each and every year for my fish.

I have six Clown Loaches that are 28 years old now and will be 29 years old in January.

My oldest is a 13 yr old red tailed shark. Just gorgeous. Most of my fish are old, Most around 9yrs or so. It's like they just won't die. I'm happy my fish are doing so well, but at the same time, I'd like something new. I do have 2 empty 75's at the moment though......

My oldest fish are loaches. I caught (or were caught for me) some modesta close to twenty years ago. They were pretty big even then, so I am sure they are more than thirty years old now.

I also have some of chain loaches for about the same time. They don't get so big, but they are long lived.

My oldest fish are 3 silver dollars, Metynnis maculatus. Jack, Jill, and not-Jack.
I inherited them from a high school science room tank in Dec. 2017, at a documented 18 years of age then. I did have to rehabilitate from not so good conditions in the last few years there. They are now 23 years old and seem perfect.
