205 gallon Amazon blackwater tank

Sorry for asking about the price of fish foods, but that's rediculous. So did you decide on the fish stock yet? Have you decided on the 'black water' look, or the clear? I think that there are certain plants that the silver dollar fish don't 'like' as much as others. (I'll try to find out the exact names of them and info and post later.)

Haha. :D Everyone says silver dollars don't eat java ferns and java moss, but I have heard some reports that some spotted metynnis are generally less plant-hungry than silver dollars.
I figure I'll just try some and if they start eating everything I'll either sell them or just forget the plants.

So far I've just picked up some more rosy tetras and three hoplo cats.

Do you think you're going to go with mostly small to medium size fish in this tank then? And are you maybe having one or two bigger ones with them, to sort'of surprize the 'onlookers' of the tank? And was wondering if you were going to have a night light/moon light look for at night? That IMAO would be awesome too! Like having a blue light bulb, by itself, just shining down from one corner/area of your tank?

The latest news is I've picked up 3 hoplo catfish (probably megalechis thoracata and currently < 2 inches long) and I've got 8 spotted metynnis (currently about 3 inches long) arriving next week, so will probably be saying goodbye to the plants... :irked::popcorn:

I'd like to get a BGK as the 'big fish' but I'll see how the rest get on before I add anything else.

I'm going with blackwater for now. Here's how the tank looks after I added a lot of boiled indian almond leaf tea. It's also a bit cloudy in this shot because the temporary filter had fallen down and kicked up a bunch of substrate, but I think that kind of adds to the look. :D
