20ft in wall display tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is a tank put in by Aquazoo Aquariums (one of my old shops) but it is about 4 or 5 years old now. Its only 60cm wide since owners didnt want to lose too much room space. Pretty straightforward install but finding the Arowana was the tricky part. I believe it is still being maintained by a profesional tank maintenance friend of mine.

Thats awesome! I'll try and find the paper artical again, i think they quoted it to be 6mx75cmx70cm(20ftx2.5ftx2.3ft)

Shame they didn't go 3ft wide, the silver aro is longer than the tank is wide. but maybe the wall stopped them?

Found it!

A couple at Newstead in Brisbane, who prefer to remain anonymous, are hooked on their 6m, slot-style, freshwater aquarium built into a wall of their warehouse-converted home.

"It's one of the central parts of our house and it's opposite our 10-seat dining-room table, so when guests come over we turn all the lights off and watch the fish," the owner said.

"I saw a fish tank in a Mel Gibson movie once and I thought what a great idea to have in a dining room."

He said the sight of 30 silver dollars (a type of vegetarian piranha) and a metre-long silver arowana was mesmerising. "It makes the room."

The custom-built tank, encased by a stylish black border, measures 6000mm x 750mm x 700mm.

"There's a trick panel at the front that's operated by a hydraulic ram (piston). With the flick of your finger the top opens up from the front so you can get your hands in to do the cleaning."

Yep, lets see your tank... ;)

lol my tank is only half that size and still cycling :nilly:,i just think if you can afford a tank that size at least get it looking wicked....a lot of members tanks would piss over this tank and I'm sure they have far less money than the owners of this tank....i'm off for a 'spliff' and I'll have a look at it again...with my rose tinted glasses on...PEACE :naughty:

Thats the tank. There was a good writeup about it a few years ago in the Brisbane News (magazine) too when it was put in. Nice to see that fish is still happy. My memory says it is 60cm wide though.... or maybe thats what they first wanted.

The people who decidered to buy and install this tank are amateurs.
Honestly... Who would build a 15ft tank thats only 2ft wide and 2ft high.

Firstly, no dis to previous employees on this thread, but as if you would go to aquazoo to build your tank or supply your fish. Overpriced clowns with limited knowledge on fish keeping and large tank building. Thats a fact.... they are now out of business.

At best, you will be able to have lots of largish cichlids under 2ft so they can turn around. Thus severely limiting your species selection if you want to keep monsters (pimas). If you are going to do a house-built tank give it some serious width and height 4ft x 2.5 Ft for example. This setup screams, I have not done my research into aquariums and fish keeping.

More dollars than cents if you ask me, not impressed.

Chime in if you think I'm out of line.
