Found it!

A couple at Newstead in Brisbane, who prefer to remain anonymous, are hooked on their 6m, slot-style, freshwater aquarium built into a wall of their warehouse-converted home.

"It's one of the central parts of our house and it's opposite our 10-seat dining-room table, so when guests come over we turn all the lights off and watch the fish," the owner said.

"I saw a fish tank in a Mel Gibson movie once and I thought what a great idea to have in a dining room."

He said the sight of 30 silver dollars (a type of vegetarian piranha) and a metre-long silver arowana was mesmerising. "It makes the room."

The custom-built tank, encased by a stylish black border, measures 6000mm x 750mm x 700mm.

"There's a trick panel at the front that's operated by a hydraulic ram (piston). With the flick of your finger the top opens up from the front so you can get your hands in to do the cleaning."

The people who decidered to buy and install this tank are amateurs.
Honestly... Who would build a 15ft tank thats only 2ft wide and 2ft high.

Firstly, no dis to previous employees on this thread, but as if you would go to aquazoo to build your tank or supply your fish. Overpriced clowns with limited knowledge on fish keeping and large tank building. Thats a fact.... they are now out of business.

At best, you will be able to have lots of largish cichlids under 2ft so they can turn around. Thus severely limiting your species selection if you want to keep monsters (pimas). If you are going to do a house-built tank give it some serious width and height 4ft x 2.5 Ft for example. This setup screams, I have not done my research into aquariums and fish keeping.

More dollars than cents if you ask me, not impressed.

Chime in if you think I'm out of line.
Don't put it down i bet it's better than your tank.

This is a tank put in by Aquazoo Aquariums (one of my old shops) but it is about 4 or 5 years old now. Its only 60cm wide since owners didnt want to lose too much room space. Pretty straightforward install but finding the Arowana was the tricky part. I believe it is still being maintained by a profesional tank maintenance friend of mine.

I happen to like my tank more and think that it looks far better. The 2x 24 inch silvers I have would be far healthier than the one in this 20 ft and happier as they can turn around in 90cm width and are fed the best quality food available.

However I do want to retract my comments made about aquazoo as not to offend "fishdance". I have seen his posts and spoken to some locals and have found that he really knows his stuff.

sorry about that fella, your setup is HOT! :)

well they may not be season prefessional fish keepers, but they have a helluva tank! you can't deny you wouldn't like a tank like that, and if you could say you wouldn't like that tank, then you obviously are jealous of it.....i know i am :D

Bassman,
This shop was been sold twice since I owned it but with regards to your comments, the customer is always right! Any shop can only make suggestions, they cant force someone to buy a tank the way a shop wants. Owners didnt have the room space and besides, a 4 foot wide WALL tank is extremely hard to clean. The top access panel is quite thin already.

On some larger and deeper tanks/pools, I have to climb in to do maintenance for example so I breath through a garden hose snorkel. This is REALLY dangerous because you have to breath in through mouth and out through nose. Breathing in and out through mouth would lead to carbon monoxide poisioning and drowning. Not the sort of thing you want people doing.
