So I ordered a nano tank from PetSmart and when I went to pick it up, it was out of stock so the manager said I could pick anything else on the shelf, so of course I just grabbed the most expensive thing which was a 20g all in one hex.
So now I’m not sure what I want to put in it. I was gonna do ghost shrimp and plants in the nano but I can do a lot more with this. I’m thinking about stiphodons but I’m not sure.
Basically I need ideas lol

You could do larger shrimp like Vampire or Bamboo Shirmp. Perhaps Neons with Shrimp? Or Dwarf Gouramis? Perhaps some rams and tetras? Maybe a tank full of colorful shrimp like Blue Tiger or Red Cherry (build a shrimp army, lol).

Shrimp might be cool, i don’t think the dimensions are good for tetras or rams. I’m not overly experienced with either though

Theoretically, tetras can go in there, but it wouldn't be ideal since you have a tall tank, so you are right about that. The Rams, though, would be fine. A very heavily planted Ram tank would be great.

I guess tetras could learn to swim in circles lol but I think I’ll pass on those. Maybe guppies though. I think my water might be a little hard for rams as well.

I’ve never kept stiphodons or hillstreams, but what if I piled rocks halfway up the back and put some plants and sand and went with stiphodons, hillstreams and guppies?

I suggest letting the aquarium age and allow algae to grow on the rocks prior to adding the stiphodon goby or hillstream loaches. They both thrive micro organisms in the algae. I've personally kept Stiphodon goby a very entertaining species.
Also both species like current from the streams or rivers from were their from.

Thanks, yes I’ll definitely let a good amount of biofilm grow first. I think for the strong current I can throw an AC70 on or even a sunsun 304b if they like extreme current.

Another idea I’m rolling around is hillstream, peacock gudgens and fork tail rainbows. I’ve never kept these either , so do you have an idea if this is a good option?
