BE SHURE YOU REPLACE TWO OF THE LIGHT BULBS WITH A TROPICAL WAVE BULB AND A RED WAVE BULB. ALSO USE R/O WATER AND INJECT CO2. MAYBE USE PLANT SUBSTRATE

Reverse osmosis. They may sell it at your local fish store Or a water store. Just do a 50% water change with it at first and keep doing your water changes with it

roottabs are vitamins that you put under the gravel near plant roots. plants grow best in finer substrates. try to get the flourite as motoxer777 suggested or if you if you are stingy, try:
sand mixed with laterite/clay, miracle gro potting organic potting soil topped with fine gravel/sand , osmocote tabs mixed in substrate, kitty litter (walmart brand:special kitty with no additives- the kind that won't turn to mush when add water)

really easy beginner plants: java fern, amazon sword, anubias, crypts, marmio ball, some aquarium bulbs

I finally went out today and got some better lighting... bought the Solarmax H.O. T-5 lighting system. 24w 12000k super daylight.
