Ok so iv kept reptiles in the past, had a ball python and veiled chameleon for a few years, but haven't had any for the past couple of years and would like to get back into keeping one, well problem is i don't have as much room as i did and i got rid of the large reptile tanks i had for them, so all i have right now is a 20g long that i can keep something in, is there a lizard or snake that could stay in there and be ok with a lot of outside time (besides geckos) and that is readily available. I was also looking into emperor scorpions, how handle-able are these guys? would prefer to stick to a lizard or snake though, was really wanting to get an iguana but don't have a big enough enclosure for one:( but any ideas on anything that i could house in a 30in tank would be much appreciated!

Rosy boa-Garter snake -hognose- sand boa-rubber boa - scarlet king. The males in all stay smaller than the females which you might prefer.
Not sure of scarlet but makes no difference as both small.

I recently saw some adult deset longnose snakes at pet store and housed in 20 long tank (30 inch) with lots of room. Very pretty snakes but not sure what type longnose .

thanks, those are all good ideas for me to look into, also i was wondering, i have a large dog kennel that i could drill small hole into to hang light in, would this be ok for housing something like a water dragon? and do water dragons get pretty "tame" like iguanas? and is the scarlet king the same as a milk snake?

Lizards I know nothing about but yes you could say scarlet kings are more or less like Milk snakes.

I left out 2 snakes that stay small 24 to 30 inches and very attractive. The first are the Thayeri kingsnakes which come in MANY colors and very tame ,easy going snakes.
The other bit more secretive but very pretty are the Mexican milksnakes. I think the New Mexican milk is the prettiest but Thayeri might be what your looking for.

No one here has them but they are sold in pet stores Spring/Sumer and kingsnake classifieds.

I keep Ruthvens kings which are bigger but same very easy going tempermeant as Thayeri kings (same "family")
This one looks like a Thayeri thats how similiar they are.

emporer scorpions are very easy to handle. I have never been stung by one but have handled countless. you could also get a chillean rosehair tarantula or any of the Aviculara sp. since they are handleable too. as far as lizards and snakes go, a crocodile skink, uromastyx, collard lizards, and maybe some anoles (but they are not as good about being handled). you might also consider a musk turtle or something like that.

aww yeah i really like uromastyx, but dont they get fairly big (and CHUNKY lol) but yeah im kind of limited by what the big chain stores carry here by me, they have a great horned mountain lizard that looks cool but they get big like water dragons, and they have a peublan milk snake thats why i was wondering if they were the same as scarlet kings because their photos look alot alike and when i was looking up vids on youtube, the guy said they were in the king snake family... and yeah def dont want anoles lol, would like to get something i cant just go catch in my back yard :) might think about the emperor scorpion they are pretty cool but id kind of like something more interactive like lizard/snake... would a corn snake stay small enough? musk turtle is also an interesting option though would have no idea where to get one from and dont they let out some kind of smell?

You could keep one or two leopard geckos in a 20 gallon long. I happen to know someone selling them. :D

hahahahaha *shameless plug*
