You could keep one or two leopard geckos in a 20 gallon long. I happen to know someone selling them. :D
:ROFL:yeah leopard geckos are pretty cool though i would like to avoid having to have something shipped:grinno:

Well if you don't want leos WHICH I HIGHY SUGGEST! You could go with a type a skink like fire or sand fish which I believe can stay in a 20.

yeah skinks are cool too, GOTTA LOVE THAT BLUE TONGUE :) but yeah leopards are pretty cool and i think my petco may actually carry some, could i keep a pair in 30in tank? and is there a non-invasive way to sex them? also do they like being handled or are they a more hands off type reptile?

I wouldn't keep a pair in a 20L because the female will be miserable constantly being harassed by the male and can die. It's best to keep one male and 2 or more female together or best to keep the genders seperate. Males should never be housed together or they will kill eachother. Females CAN be housed together but I am proof that it could be ugly. If your not intent on breeding one leo is great. Or you could do 2 females. Google image "sexing leos" and you will find pics on how to sex them. It's quite easy when thier subadult size.

They definatly don't mind being handled get a young one and work with it and you won't be disapointed! Definatly one of the best hands on reptiles you can get. They are full of personality and won't disappoint you. They are kind of like convict cichlids. Super common but you can never be disapointed by one.

This may work for a while but u could do a bearded dragon. Probly have to upgrade but not for a while

yeah i love beardies but i would def have to upgrade eventually, and while that is always a possibility, things come up sometimes and i would rather get something that i know i can house properly right away, n yeah the more im looking at them the more im thinking a leo might be for me :) they are cute, docile and can do well in my tank, n yeah it would be cool to breed but i guess if my tank is too small then ill only get one, def wouldn't want the poor female to be miserable... now to just get my reptile lamp next time i visit my parents and wait for the fish in my 20g to get big enough to go into my main tank and i can get him :) any tips for a novice gecko keeper, from what iv read they seem fairly low maintenance, but iv read mixed reviews on the needed humidity level, since they are a desert species would they be fine with just a bowl of water in the tank or would they also need to be misted? also with my python and chameleon i would bring them into the bathroom like every other day while i showered to help with their skin and shedding, would a leo benefit from this as well?

These guys like very little humidity. Keep a container with damp moss as a humid hide and they will shed in that. You don't need to soak your geckos or atleast I never have. Keep a constant bowl of water out for them to drink.

cool thanks, hey there is someone in my town that breeds all kinds of color morphs of crested geckos are these guys pretty similar in temperament or no? n yeah i wouldnt actually take cham or snake into the shower would just let them chill in the bathroom while i showered so they could enjoy the humidity but these guys needed the higher humidity so i guess that wouldn't really be necessary for a desert reptile... oh and do they benefit from being fed any kinds of fresh fruits or greens or anything like that? or just stick with gut loaded crickets?

Im actually considering getting a crestie myself and have been doing some research. They should be eating Repashy(sp?) crested gecko diet which can be supplemented with insects. Just like leos the babies will eat every day while adults eat less frequently. Although they need a 20 gallon tall for they like to climb.

yeah i was reading the person's site and they talked about a specific gecko paste thing that you can buy by the half pound n it lasts for like a year and then do crickets a couple times a week (though id probably do mealworms instead, i like them better n you dont have to worry about going MAD if one escapes into the house somewhere LMAO), but if it requires more height then i may just stick with a leopard gecko then... n how tight of a lid do these guys need, can i just get a regular screen top and not worry about escape or is it like with snakes where i would have to get one that locks onto the top of the tank?
