im switching from wet/dry with bioballs/scrubbies to just ceramic rings as my biological filter. will 20lbs be enough for 250g tank with 3 silver (2 are 12"-14" and 1 is 8") and two rays (motoro is 12" and orb is 7")?

holey hell wat does that cost
why not use Matrix?
20lbs sounds like plenty
trying to visualize it in volume

i wish there was a way to know how much bio media you'd need for a given bio load. the world would be a better place! i guess that is why everybody builds giganto sumps and over-filters. better safe than sorry :)

Agree with arowan.

A 20L matrix or pond matrix will be more than enough. Works extremely well in wet dry filters, way way more efficient than ceramic rings and has nitrate reducing properties.

I was sceptical when I first started using this product a few years ago in my wet dry filters. It is now the only bio media I use in all my filters.

With matrix and other high efficient bio medias the respective companies of their products recommend approx 1L per 100 gallons.
This is for tanks with normal filtration and stocking density.

Being a monsterfishkeeper, I tend to take that advice and apply the principal "that you can never have too much filtration". That being said I use as much bio media as my filters can hold.
