yeah it gets meaner as it gets bigger. They have been in the same tank for about three months. The only reason i can think he did this was because i didnt feed him yesterday. The thing will eat a whole five pound bag of shrimp if i throw it in there. This is definitly a learning experience for me and goes to show how aggressive and random lungfish can be....
Most carnivorous predators eat things half there size. 21" predator+11" tankmate= Lunch. Now that that lesson is learned you might want to get a separate tank for your lungfish, because everything that is 1/2 its size or smaller IS a FEEDER. I am truly sorry for you loss especially since it is one of my favorite types of fish.
yes i agree mrwinkle. i cleared out my 75 grow out and now the lungfish is in there.. cant take anymore chances with this big guy. Hes one of my favorites so i guess im just gonna have to dedicate a tank just for him
