2100 gallon aquarium

I don't know what "concrete slab on grade" means but from my knowledge the whole floor was poured all at once. Since the house is raised one foot off the street level and two feet in the back because of a slight slope in the terrain the space between the actual ground level and the house is filled with stone. That's all the information I have pertaining to the way the house was built since it predates my dad who has lived in the house his whole life.

Could I house a 6*2*2 (standard 180 gallon) safely or would I still have to cut into the floor and lay a new foundation for that part alone? Thanks again for clearing my doubts.

You could build your dream tank on the back end of the house outside inside of a small ten by ten room built out of pored concert or cinder blocks and have the fish tank be built into the small room. So that way the room could have it's own base and not be linked up to the main house.

Yes you can easily put a large aquarium on the concrete. It's very strong, just not designed for the thread topic. I really like Ocean Railroader's idea. Probably cheaper in the long run and with the climate you have....sounds awesome!

Seems like I'll have to settle for a ready made aquarium for now.

I really like Railroader's idea too but I wanted it to be in the front area of the house. The small amount of time I'm able to spend in the house during the semester is spent in the front 20% of the house studying or doing freelance work depending on what the work is. I wanted it up front because then it'd be easier to show it off unintentionally and makes a great conversation piece. ;) I'll have to talk about making a room for it. If I get the go ahead I'll do my best to make it as big as possible to make up for it not being up front.
