22" Tigrinus with SEVERE bent nose...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As long as you can prevent infection he'll be ok, he won't eat for a while and he'll be very skittish so be careful.

Wow that sucks dude. I don't think I would take it as well as you if my tig got messed up. Good luck wish you the best!

right before anyone says its a mad idea i know someone who done this and it worked

if you can see the brake in the nose a freind of mine had the same thing happen and he super glued the nose back which gave it time to fuse back in place and the nose did heal back fine

its not something i have try and if its just cosmetic and the fish is feeding and you can live with the way it looks you best leave it

Good update: he ate again today as usual. His mouth is still red but hopefully will be getting better

I have to laugh I posted on here and I was watching tv and hear bang and a splash. And guess what.....?y tig jumped and hits it's nose. It's a little bloody but no bend thank god.

NOT MUCH YOU CAN DO BUT MAKE HIM COMFORTABLE! My tig was the same way but he hit his mouth when he was about 7". I grew him for the last 2 years to 21" and he just died yesterday. He hit his mouth again about 2 weeks ago and broke it pretty good and some of his teeth were hanging out of his mouth. I was stick feeding him and he was eating but I think the rays in the tank just finally got to him and drove him nuts and he committed suicide. It was a SAD DAY! I don't think I will keep TIGS with my rays anymore. Here is last years pic of my tig. I didn't have the heart to take a picture of him yesterday after he died.

I am sorry man....he's an awesome specimen.

Was he the only catfish in the tank ?

Thanks! Yours too! He was the only Catfish in the tank for the last 1 1/2yrs. He had other tank mates like rays, arowanas, mbu puffer, etc. If yours hit his mouth in a 600 gallon I am wondering what kind of setup would be needed to prevent this. Mine hit his when he was 7" but that was in a smaller tank. Then 2 years later he hit his mouth again in my 450 gallon. Maybe it's just luck on everyone else s part that we don't see more Tigrinus with this problem.
