220 Dovii tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He is the only one I have ever seen in person so I was unsure if he was looking ok for his size. I assume that when most people post photos they are choosing the best ones and using good cameras.

As for biting my fingers, he is still timid around me, not so much with any other fish in his tank.

Give him time. He will start coming up to you everytime you get near the tank. Mine jumped through my glass top and almost got me. I had to change over to a plexi glass top whith locking latches.

I cleaned the tank and redid the scape today and was very surprised to find a clown loach (2.5 inches) and a crayfish (4 inches) that I thought had been eaten. Obviously very good at hiding, although tonight I saw the red claw crayfish just out in the open walking around looking for food and then later picking on the 11 inch pleco.

Be carefull putt go your hands in the tank they will take a finger or two if given the chance

Jeffery I'm glad my Dovii is still a bit timid as today I had my whole upper body in the tank while I was moving stuff around and he just stayed in one corner hiding from me.

Here are some progress photos.

First one is a bad photo but here is is when I got him at the start of November. 4.5 - 5 inches. At this stage he had been kept in a very small tank and had no colour at all.

Here is today at around 7 - 7.5 inches. Still hiding after I redid the tank 15 mins earlier but as you can see he is getting a bit of colour in his face now.

a beast to come, and a good shape he has. mine is 15 cm or around and living with some tank mates, but after 30 cm or so, i have to remove him to an isolated tank.

Hi all,

I have had to move the tank and as such I have the chance to redo the the whole thing top to bottom - filtration and all.

I would like to know from any expert Dovii keepers of how they would set up a tank (substrate to filtration) if they were setting up the ideal tank.

At the moment I have a 3 foot sump with a small section for media (filter pads and bio balls) and a section for heaters and return pumps. I also have a 900 l/h canister filter. I have a mixture of white pool filter sand and some black sand, but I am open to anything. I have plenty of rocks and a large piece of driftwood.

I am ok with DIY and would like to upgrade my filtration. Does anyone have any suggestions?
