well guys after 2 weeks of holding water and fish my 220's silicone let go in the center of the side panel this morning which left about 175 gallons in my house (new wood floors, carpet, couchs, dressers ,walls, carpet soaked) 1/4 inches deep everywhere. i dont know where it went wrong it held water fine for about 2 1/2 week than let go. my friend said i should have put styrofoam in between the tank and stand but idk. well anyways if i can convince the wife to let me try it again im going to resilicone it,but i dont know what kinda silicone to use thats the stongest because its 3/4" glass all the way around any other bracing ideas ? please help . oh the other thing the bottom peice of glass the guy that made the tank raised the bottom like about an 1" from the sides like mfg. tanks . should i just lay it flat when i redo it ?

Very sorry to here that your tank gave in matey, i hope you didnt loose too many fish in the process :( ,have you any pics please so we can have a better look at your problem, im finding it difficult to beleive any1 would raise the bottom of a tank 1" as it should allways be flat or have i misunderstood?

It would be easy enough to replace the glass and i would of said any aquarium glass is strong enough if you let it cure properly.

I have a 4' tank now where the bottom is totally smashed so all i done is placed a sheet of glass straight into the tank and siliconed it into place, covered all the cracks and edges let it cure for 2 days and it is still up and running now with no leaks whatsoever , here is a vid of that tank, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk0zhZShN6E&feature=channel_page if you look closly u can see the siliconed lines on the bottom. I sup[pose im trying to say that anything is possible matey.

thats the corner where it was spraying out of where the silicone is lighter.

2 weeks of holding water??

was this a newly built/purchased tank, or a second hand?? if its the former, you can be reassured that wherever you got the tank from should be replacing it, and paying for any damages caused. especially if what you mean by "the silicon is lighter" was the bead of silicon was smaller at one end than the other. that indicates horrid workmanship..

on a side note..... call a restoration company or pick up the carpet you have down and let fans and tons of air get between the pad and floor and carpet and pad for atleast 24-48 hours. without the carpet, padding and floor underneath being fully dried, your going to run into serious mold/mildew issues. im a floor mechanic by trade, so trust me, ive seen it.
