Will it get along with the tinfoil barb sharks etc.?

Oh yea every oscar i ever had basically if it didnt fit.in their mouth they didnt mess.with it. If you do a 180-220 gallon all them will be happy for life.

How do you suggest I cycle a tank that size?

the easiest way is to take the existing filters off the 50g and put them directly on the new setup 220g.

the bacterial population in the filters are keeping up with the load in the 50g, so they will easily handle the same load in the new tank with 4x the amount of water.

the bacteria in the filter will seed the gravel etc and the new tank will be fine.

what I have done in the past was given the filters a clean a week or two before im ready to make the transfer, so they have good flow when you put them on the new tank and they are not clogged. the week in between the filter clean and the transfer over allows any disturbance to the bacterial population to go away (repopulate), so the filter is full of good bacteria AND has great flow through when its time to make the switch.

just make sure the new tank is up to temperature and dechlorinated properly before you make the switch

good luck and enjoy your new tank.

How much filtration for a tank that size? Plus, I know that clown knives are messy fish!

I think that i'm moving the sharks to a DIFFERENT tank (they're brackish/salt) Will I still need a 220 for JUST the Tinfoil and Knife? Plus the possible tankmates?THANK YOU!:D

I would do at least a 180 cause your clown knife gets big ive see 30" ones so i would go no less than 24" wide. Even with a 180 when youe fish get large.the tank will not look all that big .

Upgrade to at least a 180. I have a 18" rck and im upgrading him to a 200 in july at the latest. Maybe a 220 if I cant get it though the door and down the stairs into the basement. They love roaming the tank at night and need lots of swimming spare. Plus your other fish will enjoy the extra space aswell.
