I posted a topic about this tank I am getting before, I am such an idiot though. I was planning on putting it in the basement but now I realize that the stairs to the basement turn at a 90 degree angle and I'm almost positive it will not fit. Does ayone here keep a tank this big on the main floor of thier house, do you think it would be too much weight or would it be fine?

Let me know,
Tyler

tough call. How new is the house. My neighbor has a 150 on his main floor. No problems. Just keep it on an outside wall.

Any load bearing wall will be fine, just make sure it is level and bounce on the floor in that area to make sure there is now loose floor beams. You can look from your basement to see where the strongest part of the floor will be, you could pretty much park a car in a house. Floors are built reasonably strong.

go in the basement and put some of those metal poles for support in the basement, and do something to make the wood stronger.

that would be a close call ..........i'd say no but i'd check with a contractor or builder and see how much the floor could hold.....even if you do end up doing it you are probaly going to need extra support in the basement to support the tank...........

what about those who have waterbeds on upstairs floors???

yea but you also have to consider that water beds are dispersed over a bigger area with less water concetrated in one spot.......also there isn't fish, substrate, or filtration on a water bed..............

This is true. Plus a king-sized waterbed only holds at most 175 gallons which is about 400 lbs lighter.
