2200 bucks for aquarium

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LFS's are over priced, sometimes by 100% or more over their cost.

I'm with rally. Order a large glass tank or make a 600+ gallon DIY tank.
Deffinatly do DIY on the wet/dry and lighting, that will save you hundreds (easily.)

Howdy,

I disagree with most previous posts: I would rather get a nice tank and high-quality set-up than a big cheap DIY. With that money, you can get a 300 gal glass aquarium with wooden stand, a /\/\onster canister filter full of high-quality biomedia, High quality lights (HQI or better), and some very nice plants and fish.

All in all, it will look much better and will cause much less stress before, during, and after set-up than a cheapo maxi-size.

Sometimes, less is more

Hmmm.
It depends on what you want out of the tank and hobby...

If you want to keep the biggest possible, go DIY plywood (even if you hire a labourer to help out)
If you want something classy to look nice and show off, go smaller and bought.

It depends on personal preference...

Really the truth^^^ That's why the differing opinions.. Some people want the biggest tank they can get to keep huge monsters and some just want a nice large tank to keep semi-monsters.. Def. DIY wet/dry though

glasscages 300 gallon tank its like 850$ then build your stand and canopy get 2 twintube light fixtures from home depot and some bulbs then you will have plenty left for some nice fish for the tank

This was custom : http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42589
I would never call that cheapo maxi-size. That was maxi bang for your buck.

IMO a DIY wet/dry looks and performs better than any canister. I don't care about planted tanks though:)

Very nice tank indeed. However, what were the total costs? And - as Steve said himself:

It was built by my own tankbuilders.

Not everyone has that luxury or skills.

Without plants, lighting is much cheaper (Home Depot). It all depends on what he wants...
