^ Really in Taiwan they are all tempered glass? coz i now in China, they aren't all made from tempered glass for the very reason i mentioned...

Thanks everyone. I feel better now. :)

As far as I know all tanks sold in Taiwan are tempered glass. Even my 310gal. I would say go for it.

Yes, this tank is from a Taiwanese distributor. I bet you noticed how the tank was made? Tanks made there are pretty much identical regardless of size. I like how they add a quarter inch cylindrical glass supports on all the seams.

I'm a professional glazier and I handle tempered glass all the time. We build shower enclosures with it and is much stronger than plate glass as long as you don't hit the edge of the glass on anything hard. If the top of your tank has exposed edges just make sure not to set the tank directly on your garage floor. Some wooden sticks like a couple 2x4s to keep it off the concrete will prevent an explosion.

1/2"?...no It's more like 5/16" but I need to double check. Is it possible to tell if its tempered or plate glass visually?

Ive had 55gals of this thickness 5/16th.

Maybe its a reptile tank??

I have no idea but 2,000+lbs is alot of wieght!

Just ordered a 360 and got it all tempered for an additional $450 USD. It makes the glass 4-5 times stronger. Of course it isnt going to save you from a bowling ball being hurled at the aquarium, both normal galss and temperred glass should shatter nicely in this case. Only disadvantage is not being able to drill it after tempering, the glass will shatter into a million pieces.

Many times there will be a etching mark or logo on one of the corners of tempered glass. Since it is for display they may have omitted this mark. Another way to see if it is tempered is to look at it with a pair of polarized sunglasses. If it resembles the way your car glass looks with the glasses on then it is tempered. You should see a sort of grid pattern that won't show up on normal plate glass.

That tank screams Taiwanese design. The seams are great with the extra support but make sure it is supported properly. They can handle the stress from not too perfect support. But if you are keeping larger fish, or live in an earthquake prone zone, these seams can rip when not fully supported.
