220gal Oscar tank

Someone started a thread about over filtering and I added my stuff. I never really got into the filtration of this tank so I figured I add what I put in the other thread:
wet/dry rated for 300 gal
Fluidized filter rated for 600 gal
18w UV sterlizer at 120gph

950pgh from sump for undergravel jets
14gallon refugium with 6 mangroves - upgrading this week to a 40 gallon refugium to hold more plants
Automatic water changer that is changing 30% twice a week

That tank really kicks butt!!!!! I did a search on metal halide lighting on here to see what came up. I have 3 400w mh setups I never got to use on my 6x3x3 reef tank I was going to set up. Now I got 240 long (8x2x2) that im going to set up as Africans and been kicking around the idea of running maybe 2 of them on the tank. The reflectors are 19x19 and are made to spread the lgiht out. I think high enough the 2 could cover the tank.
So what is the wattage of yours and are they the double ended kind?
What about alge growing on the plants that close to the lights Do you have to clean them and what about the reast of the tank. Or is the water so low in phos and nitraes that it doesnt grow?

no alge, The bulbs are 150w double ended. my nitrates run between 10-20 depending on the when I check in the water change cycle. I also run a uv sterilzer to kill any free floating agle. The biggest thing is probably the fact that I only run teh MH 1 hr a day on a timer set for when I get home from work the rest of the time it's moon lights and track lighting point at the tank. 400w would be a lot on a 2' FW tank without plants. I use to have 175 mogul base MH on a 120 that ran 8-10 hrs a day for plants and I had problems with hair alge.
this is one of the best oscar tanks ive seen so far! beautiful fish, and i love the fake plants and background.. great job on setting it all up!

There are some new pic's on page 7. I did find a video of the plants flwoing in the water just haven't taken the time to figure out how to post it.
