Hi, right now I have 2 6" kois in a 225 tank with a 9" endi. I have a fx5 and can't seem to get the tank cycled and it has been more than 2 weeks now. I poor a lot of commerical BB from big al's into the tank. The ammonia is under control but nitrites can't seem to come down to zero even with 50% water change everyday.

Please advise.

You shouldn't be doing waterchanges during a cycle. Leave the tank alone, and it will cycle.

Yeh True.... You seriously cant do much till your tank is fully cycled.....
DO NOT DO SO MANY WATER CHANGES!!! lol
After 2 weeks without a water change i saw a lot of difference in my newbie tank but yes just let it brew for a while there is not that much seriously too worry about..
Trust me i was just like you =D

Oh and just wondering if you put fresh Driftwood in your tank?
If so and your water is not 100% clear it might be that the Driftwood hadnt been treated (which i stuffed up lol)

But Good Luck and nice size tank for kois lol not really into them myself

=D

After years and years, don't worry bout your nitrates, I know people will smash me for saying that but... i dont even check my tank anymore... my concern would be your changing the water too often and not letting it build up bacteria... Just leave it be... easier said then done. I used to the same ****! Just leave it be it will take care of itself... Best of luck...

What exactly does "ammonia under control" mean? what's your readings for AMM and NO2?

50% everyday is too much in the beginning, montor your parms, watch your fish for stress, cut back on feedings and let it go a week if you can. What is your filteration method and what are you use for your bio media?

i would suggest that you do not do water change, put some prime and salt in and just wait.....it will happen in time. just make sure your fish are ok with the nitrite level

ghost ride the nitrites

sorry..

sounds either yer not cycled yet or yer over feeding.. or both..

Koi's are pond fish dude. They are a massive load on a filter even when they are 6inch = you have 2 of these and a 9inch endi. If you added these all that once, that's where your problem started. Bacterial growth takes a few months to grow in the filter to denitrify!
