Cycle wont help
Just step up the waterchanges and ride it out you are 2/3 of the way there. Its alot of fish load for a new tank.

Takes 5 or 6 weeks to fully cycle a tank. Need to keep doing daily water changes to save the fish. Nitrite levels above .25 ppm are very dangerous for fish. Also you need to increase to at least 50% changes. Add prime after each water change it will make the nitrites less toxic.

It would be a good idea for you to research Brown Blood disease.

i tend to not do water changes during cycling....less change in pH, temp, chlorine leveles etc....less shock to the BB......the nitrites are not good for the fish but if you use prime and salt......it protects the fish quite well.....imo ....just another way of doing things

What if I pour 8oz bottle of cycle bb?

Is there a lfs that you go to a lot and trust? Y dont you take your fish and give them some cash so you can sleep well and let the tank cycle properly (only if you dont have another cycled tank for them:D). JMO G/L Bud

taking all the fish out midcycle wont help either though. hed have to add an alternate ammonia source to keep the bacteria growing

I´ve imported 5000 koi per year from Japan for a German pet store chain the last 8 years. The systems always have to cycle when the fish come over. This means i have a lot of experience with your problem. All i can say is stop worrying about nitrites! If you still have nitrites in about 6 weeks then you can start thinking about an alternative to leaving the tank alone. In the mean time do water changes as if there isn´t a problem and reduce feeding but don´t stop feeding. Adding iodine free salt to reach a concentration of 0.05% salt in the tank water will protect the fish from nitrite poisoning by drastically slowing the transport of nitrite ions across the gills into the blood but the salt will also slow the cycling of the tank. In six weeks you can go for the salt option if you´re still having problems.
