230g natural sand substrate?

If you're stuck with PFS an option is mixing in some gravel. I've seen tankshots with it like that, it looks a lot more natural than just the plain PFS, which to me looks like a beach. I'm considering doing it myself (right not I've got plain PFS) but waiting on some other issues in my tank to get straightened out first.

I have pool sand and I'm pretty happy with its cheap and haven't had a problem but takes forever to clean but overall very happy!

How has the pool sand working for FW and what size are you using? Trying to decide what substrate I am going to get for a FW sting ray- need something rounded but can be burrowed into easily.

I'm thinking the finer grain playsand-type stuff would be better for rays. I know many keep them with both barebottom and PFS, but if you don't mind the extra time spent cleaning it out of the bag your ray would probably appreciate the playsand.

Yes I see keeping a ray in a bare bottom tank is like me try to sleep on a bed without blankets. Have a congo puffer that appreciates the 3in sand bed in his tank (using black moon sand- he is ok with it but he is a bit tougher skinned than a ray- he use to bury himself in gravel no problem).
