WOW!!! 71CM! I'd love to see what one looks like at that size.I have 2.
The smaller one I bought in April 2000 at 7.6cm (around 3 inches) from Jerry Draper owner of the Tropical Fish Room in Brantford Ontario Canada.
It measured 65.4cm (25.75 inches) in Feb 2010 when caught in my 56k litre tank and then measured by friends and moved to the 196k litre tank.
We took more than 38,000 litres out of the smaller tank allowing 4 friends to get into it and catch fish easier.
I took about 2,000 litres out of the 196k to reduce splashing when moving fish into it that day.
The fish has grown to about 71cm.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anToGbLArm0&feature=related It still managed to splash a bit.
the larger one obtained from Pets Plus in Lockport New York in 1999 was 12.7cm when purchased, was 83.8cm in Feb 2010 when caught and moved to my big tank. It has grown and is estimated at 90cm today. It is a lot heavier built fish than the smaller one.
Both are doing well in the big tank. There are 5 Oxydoras niger in the large tank but I don't see them shoal with the grannies. The O. niger vary in purchase dates from 1992 to 1999. They range from 92cm to 112cm.
What kind of perch even is that? It's awesome whatever it is, looks like a piebald Perca sp. but I'm doubtful of that due to rarity.
Dang, thats crazy! I dont wanna de-rail the thread but, can you post pics? They sound incredible!I have 2.

Just a Nile perch. Not sure on the variant though. What kind of perch even is that? It's awesome whatever it is, looks like a piebald Perca sp. but I'm doubtful of that due to rarity.
