Fritz TurboStart is supposed to be good

I've used MarineLand Bio-Spira and had good results......i just picked up a couple bottles of Tetra's Safe Start.......we'll see so far so good

I've bought a couple others.....one was called cylce.......didn't work worth shlt.......they need to have live bacteria and experation dates on them to be worth even looking into........most live bacteria needs to be refrigerated also

So Seachem Cycle is no good, was that because of the expiration or just the product not working??

well i know that just cause you add a magic potion doesn't mean that abra cadabra you're cycled but it speeds up the proccess if you do it right. like not havin UV sterilizers on, and having the water conditioned and at the propor temp.......

i don't know if the cycle bottle i'm talkin about is made by seachem.....this one was a really small bottle like the size of a travel advil bottle. there was no exp date and i think that product is rubbish

Seachem Cycle doesn't cycle the tank in 24hrs the product is used for seven days.
I am not sure 24hrs is possible or if Seachem works but I may try it one my 500g so I can stock it ASAP.

Howdy,

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

I would NEVER consider a tank cycled after 24h, no matter what the additive's bottle says...

:) Glad I could help.

Any non refrigerated bacteria in a bottle (like stability, or cycle) is crap.

Whoever said that cycles can be sped up by turning off UV is completely wrong, the bacteria in our aquariums live on surfaces and are not affected by uv sterilizers at all. The only time you must have a uv off is when you add a bottle bacteria that is refrigerated and kept at the proper temps, that is the only time the bacteria is free floating and can be affected by a uv.

There are only 2 bac-in-a-bottle products that work, period. Tetra Safe Start and Dr.Tims. That is because United Pets Group (i think that was the name, but they bought and own marineland and tetra) owns the patent for making the b-in-a-bottle.

It must be kept cold and have an expiration date to work. Those are the only 2 products.

Biospira is not manufactured anymore as it was replaced by tetra safe start.

Oh, and it can cycle a tank in minutes because it is not an additive, it is the actual bacteria! The ones that we spend a month to a month and a half establishing! They are cultured, placed in a bottle with pure water, and put into a dormant state by the fridge.

Tetra safe start is cheaper than dr.tims, and price is something to consider when you add a $20 cold shipping fee to the order.
