24" Pair of Silver Arowanas

You really can't visually sex silver arowanas, we named them thinking the were both males Big Al" and "Hughie". I would suspect that they are probably M & F though. There are some physical characteristics that differ between the two the larger(top in pic below) has a broder jaw which is at less of an angle, body is not as tall, more slender and the lower fins extend farther back. The smaller's jaw is at a sharper angle and seems smaller in proportion, it's body has more girth from top to bottom and the lower fins are much shorter. I don't know if any of these characteristics are identifyinf M or F, these are just differences that I can see.

males have a larger jaw and it protrudes above the nose...the females jaw is even or just shy of the nose....:)

I had heard this before, but was under the impression that this is not 100% proof positive.
 
Does this method of sexing apply to black aros also?
