240, 180, 125!!!!

I'm not sure what you will learn by looking at photos (not that looking at photos isn't fun on its own)... those three tank sizes have different footprints, and will look roughly the same from the front.

Figure out how much space you have, how much money you have, and get the largest one you can fit and afford. It's great that 125 is your bottom end tank... that's a great size to start with. But if you can fit a 6x2 foot tank or 7x2 (or 8x2!), then definitely go with that.

Stands are easier to find and thus easier to afford for a 6 foot tank, which may be a consideration, so keep that in mind, but if you can find or make a bigger stand then by all means, get the biggest one.

And then post the pictures for us to see!

Here's mine. It's a 6x1.5 footprint (same as the 125) because that's the largest dresser I could find and it's in the bedroom. I wish I could've gotten a 180 though. The fish would be much happier.

I would say always go with the biggest tank that will work for you.

I have a 125 and it is the biggest my wallet would allow and the biggest my house would allow, crawl space & 6 foot wall to place the tank.

In a 125 you can still keep fish that reach 14" or 15" which to me is still a monster fish (a small monster of course)

You can always build a stand for much cheaper than you can buy one for, don't let the stand be a deciding factor. Now, I don't have any monster tanks because I live in a small apt, but a few 4x4's and a few 2x4's will build a stand plenty strong for your tank. It might not be pretty, but it will get the job done. I built a rough stand for a 40G tank out of just 2x4's and I just wrapped a black cloth around it as a skirt and it looks just fine, IMO.

You can always build the stand correctly (the opposite of what I did) with nice sides, some pretty doors etc etc. Search "Indy DIY Guys" and just flip through that thread, plenty of ideas for some gorgeous stands.

Go as big as possible, more tank space = more options.

I wanted to see pictures because its fun and i like seeing 240g dwarf fish and i wanted to see fish ideas, stands, plants, decor, etc.. NICE TANKS EVERYONE!!!!!!!keep them comin

Go with the biggest tank you can find! Or build a plywood tank... you can make them bigger with less money.

what is a plywood tank i've only seen one and it wasnt finished and i thought they were like pond liner with a glass wall so can u explain and/or post pics

I am thinking about getting one of those three sizes and money is an issue. So if a 240 is as big as i think i might look into it so post your pics of your 240's, 180's, 125's, please i dont care what fish are in them or if they are filled with water just post them. and if you could put the filter, lighting, etc. that would be nice but i would really like to see your tanks PLEASE i am begging:cry::grinno:

Since you don't care if there filled with water here is my 240G 8'X2'2'
I picked up off CL....its a work in progress. I am posting pics of this project in a thread under setup & filtration. IMO I would do as others said go as big as $$$ and space allow. Just remember the tank is only part of the cost. Lights, filtering, water changes, ect all cost more as you increase sizes.
