240 gal hole issues

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
id make the hole off the back and pipe it down so if the power goes out its not just all draining through the bottom. thats just my input

Doesn't the tank builder know what to do? I'd be really leary buying a tank from someone that doesn't seem to know stuff like this.. That's a lot of water on the floor if something goes wrong with the drilling or silicone seal.. Be careful if you are buying from this guy to get a "deal"..

^ This is Thailand baby, further more it's Chatuchuk market, World renowned for good and bad things. Flash the cash at the right people you can buy anything, Gibons, tigers, birds on the endagered spicies list and all under the watchful eye of the paid off police force.
if i tell the teank builder i want a 240 gal built out 6mm glass he'll do it and take the money.
If i tell him exactly what i want i'll get it.
there are lots of small shops selling tanks, you place an order with them, they walk out the back door of thier little shop and go to the tank builder who has a unit behind all the shops. There they order your tank and charge you for it. Or you can find the tank builder and tell him exactly what you want and he'll do it. cutting out the middle man.
i went to an Expo with some amazing fish, aros especially. There where pre-built tanks. some in teak ,some not. I asked about speciffications at 3 different stalls and got 3 different answers, all the stall owners were Chinese Thia with fat kids and lots of gold, (generalization i know but here it's a good sign of business over care.) All prices quoted were double what the tank builder wants.
I think it better I ask people who know because they are owners and then order using information greatfully received.
I walk into any shop in Chatuchuck market and the letters S.T.U.P.I.D.A.T.M appeaer on my forehead, even though i speak Thai and have lived here for 5 years.
I have to take the upper hand and tell them what i want, and let them know I know they're trying to pull my pants down before they do it.

do not pipe down, the water will siphon out till it gets to the bottom of the pipe.

Dmopar you're a superstar. That is exactly the type of info I needed.
I'd buy you a drink for that if it were possible.

^ This is Thailand baby,

I didn't mean to offend you, but I would think a tank building shop that drills glass would know based on experience.. that was my only point.
Sure, it doesn't hurt to ask on this forum to make sure that you're not getting screwed over by them.

I was only trying to help you avoid a potential mistake.

no offence taken, i agree with you, in the real world that would be the case but here they want the money. I could ask them, and have but as i said i get different answers everytime so i though i'd make my own mind up based on the experiencess of the experinenced. I went today and told them exactly what i want and it's exactly what i'm gonig to get, thanks to you guys.

hey classic-chassis, hope you got my PM and hope the info helped :)
