240 gallon acrylic tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
500 isn't bad for a 240G acrylic I'd see if it were possible to get the stand included also. A new tank of that size will prolly be close to 2k at least. Be sure to check the bracing and such over really well. Good luck!

I would probably do it under two conditions:

1. The tank had to be in really great shape - few to zero scratches.

2. You need to be handy enough to build a stand on your own. Buying a stand for a $240 would be crazy expensive. Look into the stand builds online & make sure you're comfortable with tackling the build on your own.

$400 is more of a fair deal IMO. Big tanks are few & far between in my area. I can buy 125s all day, but 180+ is rare.

Not the greatest deal I've ever heard of but to me at least, its definitely a good one. If it holds water, isn't beat up or covered in scratches and is the size you're looking for, then it sounds like a winner!

Honestly if I were looking for a tank that size and it fit the description above, I'd be all over it. Building a stand is cake and the possibilities for lighting and filtration are endless.

Depends on wether your prepared for the other $500 you need for it to function. Stand will cost $100 to build and a sump will cost about $400 or so if you go that route. Canisters will be even more expensive than a sump for the same bio and flow.

Then lights, covers, etc

Personally I would pass it will probably end up costing close to 2k just setting it up. I would do the math and come up with an estimate of total cost and do like the others said make sure your comfortable with building a proper stand that's structurally sound. Make sure your house can hold the weight and getting it inside once you buy it.

I have a chance to upgrade to a 240 gallon acrylic tank for 500 just for the tank. Would be a good move for my cichlids would you do it for 500

What are the measurements on the tank. If the tank is not scratched up and has good bracing it is a good deal. A new one from say glass cages is $1750. U could build a stand easy or if you are not a builder a brand new stand is only $460 plus shipping. U can find used filters on here or craigslist all the time as well as heaters.

The stand the 180 is on is all the wood from my 300s stand which was about $90. The wood for the 125s was $65. The middle of my 180 stand is open because I have to get my sump in there. You can always space them evenly.

You can use my build if you'd like.

Just anticipate spending 3x whatever you plan on spending for plumbing haha! I hate it.

If it is in good shape, I just paid $500 recently for a 250g acrylic. Remember most scratches can be buffed out
