http://anythingfish.com/ theres some fish over 3' for ya. with proper care and accomodations is it real easy to get fish to there max size. but it takes alot of dedication and lots of money. please dont try to justify stunting a fishs growth. and never challenge a MFKer to show you big fish.;)

hey but that guy has a public aquarium standard tank..
how many people on MFK keep fish in tanks that big? 2 or 3..
tlkmdn has a outdoor POND.

show me a 3' shark in a 3 digit TANK. i mean that's what everybody keeps them in..even smaller. and even smaller for the petsmart ones.

there are many people with 3' fish in three digit tanks. there aren't any 3' sharks in 3 digit tanks probablly 'cause thay're stunted. you're just giving an excuse to stunt fish :irked:. don't go around believing to every book there is

Question is, why would you want to harm fish in that way when you apparently know better. A fish needs a tank wider than the fish is long so it can turn around.

Grow the fish out to a decent size and trade or sell them and start over.

Why can't I keep babies in small tanks though? I mean I'm only gonna keep them in a 125gallon until they're like 7" or so..(I do have a back-up tank much bigger)
Then they're gonna move onto the pool. What's so bad about that? The pool is huge, they have plenty of area to swim.

And when I go to aquariums that house huge monsters in huge tanks; they don't use the space efficiently. All they do is hover in one area or cruise really slowly.

Bottom line is ...you do what you want to do. Its your money, time and if anything bad happens it's on your conscience. No one can tell you what to do with your money and fish.

It's up to you to know what is right or wrong and live with it. You stated that you want to grow them out and move them into a pool...fine..thats a good idea. If you have a big pool that will accomdate the fishes when they get bigger thats great or if you plan to grow them out and give them away or sell them off to someone that can properly house the fishes..thats great too.

If you keep them in a small size tank and the fishes get stunted or die..thats on you.

Never take anything personal or serious from a public forum. :nilly:

I have issues with all of these pool kept fish...the vast majority of these pools are designed for temporary use at best. Do you plan to just keep replacing them every couple of years? and what do you do with the fish while your doing it?

While rebuilding my Koi pond I used a doughboy pool as a temporary outdoor housing for the fish. Even with an additional layer of materal...(light pond liner in my case.) ...the pool was begining to fall appart after about 18 months. (The rebuild took a LOY longer than I'd planned.) This was NOT one of the cheap units sold at wally world or K-mart. My question is...how can people be plamming to house fish in them for LIFE?

Even an inground pond...(I used the 25 year liner with a layer of the 10 year stuff benieth that.) starts having problem sooned than you expect. My pond started losing about 900 gallons a day after 3 years. Thats the reason I went with concrete on the rebuild and why I
m planning concrete on the moat for the ranch.

thanks prophets.

and wolf3101; what kind of pools are really strong? vinyl will rip right through right?
i plan on getting the biggest sizes they offer..will cost around 4 digits(cheaper in the long run)
how did your pool fall apart?
and can you immediatly add fish to a concrete pond once it's finished? or do you have to wait a few years?

also how many people on MFK keep iridescent sharks?
