240 gallon stand..my stand paranoia or legit?

You'll be fine man. Gotta keep in mind, houses are built out of 2x4's. I've seen people build stands out of 1x3's for big reef tanks, you will be fine. As others have said, you can crack the bottom if you put support against the glass. The tank is made to sit on the rim, pressure in other places can cause issues for you in the future.

Is the stand made out of 2x4 or 2x3 ? Looks like all 2x3's or is it smaller ?

I am no expert so I can comment on how strong the stand is, if you need to for peace of mind do so. What really come to mind is how much we overbuild our stands. I have modeled my stand on what I have seen on this forum and I think we cant stack three and four tanks on these stands. Wow!!!
