I agree. I once saw a 20" Jardini kept in a 120g with 18" front to back. It had to swim upward to turn. Silvers (and blacks likely) don't have problem turning in small radius. If you are in Chicago, visit Shedd. The black (easily 3') arowana in their Amazon exhibit is able to turn in 18" space at the far left corner of its display tank (somehow it also happens to be its favorite spot!).

It actually amazes me the tight turning radius silvers(and blacks) have. mine is 14-15" and can turn around in a space less than 6 inches.

finally... u came back to reality. my 2fter is in a 30" wide tank, and NEVER even uses more then 12" to turn around, freakin weirdo
