Breeding doesn't work like that with serrasalmus species, especially S. rhombeus. It's only been done a handful of times in captivity- in swimming pools, and ponds. Piranhas are not sexually dimorphic which means you can't tell the sex, and S. rhombeus are extremely aggressive towards conspecifics. As far as a I know that don't mate for life either. They don't really pair like cichlids. When dealing with piranhas think "giant killer tetra."

agree, i wouldn't try it unless you have the money to burn. I had one that I thought it's a female but never had the guts to remove the divider, she's too nice to just get killed by the other bigger rhom

ok then i take it, its not as semple as my red bellies where? i have only keeped rdp before so this is all new to me

dont get overwelmed but most piranha care all the same excent mannys they are very sensitive ph but desides that most p's are have the same care as reds

Stock it with "true piranha species" Pygo family Piraya, Caribe, Super Reds, or Common Red Belly Piranha, if you want a shoaled tank. Or if going for a solo fish get a lunker for that size of tank ex. S. Rhombeus, Manny, ect so on & so on. If you want a fish that people will be interested in looking/viewing at.

I'd say a decent size shoal more active, than solo species of piranha ever will. I have a Rhom myself & they are over rated sit scared in a corner all day chasing himself in the glass. Feeding time for him is over in a few seconds.
But in the end it's really what you want too stalk it with every person has different taste. Go with what you want that catches the keepers eye sorta speak.
