240 or 300 gal aquarium

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks!! I'm now thinking of turning it into a species tank and breeding either Frontosas or Tropheus. It's only been in service for two weeks and I'm already ready to try something new!!!

Sorry to steal the thread...

I paid $1415 for my custom built 300 gallon from GlassCages.com about a month ago. I had 6 holes drilled, whole-side overflow built, shipping, Sch 80 bulkeads, acrylic divider cover... I love the tank, too. I've heard some good and bad things about GlassCages, but I'm happy with my purchase. There's a bit of silicone that I needed to scrape off with a razor blade to "clean things up", but other than that I'm really happy. Take a look: http://picasaweb.google.com/peterp63/AquariumProject02

We'll see how you are with them after 12 months.

I'll practically give you one of my 300's if you come pick it up...... It's just sitting in a storage unit -- I'm tired of paying for the unit!

Man, i would come down there right now (Richmond VA) but im going into Boot Camp next month and wont have room for a tank for the next 6 years lol!

If your any where in FL let me know I will drive tomorrow to pick one of the 300gal!!!!! Or both if you want :)

VLDesign/Dmopar, are you insinuating that GlassCages.com aquariums are crap?? I haven't had any problems as of yet (only in service for about 2 weeks), but I will keep everyone posted. From what you guys/gals have heard, what usually goes?? The seals on the bottom, sides....??? I'm curious to know.

My tank is glass and I did not order the stand or canopy. I built the aquarium into the wall of my house, so IT BETTER NOT LEAK!!! GlassCages.com requires their aquariums to sit on top of at least 3/4" foam to be warranted by them. I bought the pink insulating foam from Home Depot and it seems to work well. Maybe the horror stories that the above folks talk about failed to use the foam... I dunno......
