I got my 240 tall acrylic 8 by 30 high by 18! I got is used but in good condition! I have it in my room only place i can put the tank!
My question can the thing tip over or break and will it smash me if it does. I live in san diego and my buddy says its suicide and i should strap the tank to the wall in case of an earthquake. My fish guy that helped set it up said dont worry these things wont break. If the thing would fall or bust we can be injured.

i dont know about if it will or not, but too be safe just strap it to the wall if you are in doubt. especially if you think it will injure you...

Strap it just to be safe, better to be safe than sorry.

Yea, especially since you are talking about a TON of water falling if a quake hits and that bad boy falls, and by TON, I literally mean a ton.

water at 8lbs a gallon plus all the materials inside will more then definately crush u..if you think it could fall, then obviously it could, anything can happen in an earthquake...(Another reason i love New England) STRAP IT~!

about 10 pounds a gallon...

If it were me i would definately want it to break as soon as it landed on me !! :)

If you have an earthquake it will be like your china hutch... IT is definately going to tip over if the quake is rough enough :)

Remember keep the camera rolling while your home infront of it :D and if you move in time show us that too :D

Would it hurt to stap it? 2000+ lbs is nothing to joke about (unless it's someone else). Just make sure the person who does it is experienced and qualified. I trust the tank is NOT your headboard. If so you might consider sleeping out on the couch. :nilly:

Yeah I'd say it won't fall, as long as it's sturdy on your floor and stand...always safer to strap though. If it falls on you, it would probably kill you, if not by sheer weight, by the glass shattering and slitting your skin all to heck.
