2400 Gallon Pond / Tank Build Pictures

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I usually am up by 3.30am most of the days and start checking on the tanks around 4am.. being sunday and a little lazy i went a little late and observed two things.. unfortunately i didn't have the phone on me to take a video.. the oscars, as i had mentioned earlier, had formed pairs.. usual signs of spawning.. flaring.. lock jaw etc.. this particular pair were shooing away the RTC.. he he he he.. it was real funny to watch.. but at the same time.. my largest aro went by and they broke it up and sank low..

the next thing i observed was the aros.. my two largest aros.. gandalf and akira.. both are around 26".. i think its sort of a dominance ritual or something.. they were parallel to each other but ones head to the others tail.. and started making these circles.. i thought they'd break it up but they went on for close to some 30 to 40 seconds.. no attacks nothing.. jus making circles and then they broke it off.. will try to catch a video sometime.. cheers..

Moved the Lily plant in today.. looks lush.. hopefully in a week or two the leaves should come to the surface..

Great build, I am very happy to your fish doing well in there new home.
I want to know if you have a video of you filtration system (sump)?
Do your silver arrows have any signs of Drop eye?

Cheers,

Ramesh.

hi ramesh.. thanks mate.. i don't have a video of the filtration system.. will make one though.. to explain.. the sump is divided into two chambers.. chamber one is connected to the main tank / pond area by a 2 " top skimmer and 4" bottom drain.. chamber 2 in the sump holds heaters, air stones, 5 kg of ceramic rings (for now, planning to make it around 50 to 100 kg) and two boyu pumps that do 14000 LPH.. they are pumped outside to two boyu gardening bio filters that can handle about 15000 LPH.. the filter has pads, bio balls and ceramic rings.. the water from the canister is then fed to the tank..

my silvers have varying signs of DE.. but nothing major.. i read a thread here about a user moving his silvers into a pond as a DE cure.. I doubt it though.. I'm just happy as long as they can get all this space and be healthy.. cheers mate.. thanks again..

wow! amazing! an eye candy! i would be tempted to swim in it!
an amazing job man!

Put up a branch from a tree we had to trim.. this has been lying out in the sun for almost a couple of months.. just peeled off the bark a couple of days back.. gonna put a couple of pothos plant in the sump and snake it up this bark.. want the pothos to act as a biological means of filtering..
