240g Center Support Fix-!!URGENT!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had this same issue with a 72"x18"x24". I dropped the water level down until the section of glass moved back to where they needed to be.
I then cut away the silicone, cleaned and reapplied. Waited a week, as this was the 1st time something like this had happened to me. then filled the water back up slowly - watching the tank to check for movement.
For weeks afterwards I'd go to bed - wondering... "Is the tank gonna be safe?" but it was. Infact it has since been moved to my new house and setup again. No issues in over 4 years since it happened.

Hope this helps.

I would think you should find out what caused it to break off. Also maybe you should make some kind of emergency brace that could go over the top of the tank to keep everything staight, incase of future failure.

I think It failed of time and pressure. I have now idea how old the tank is I bought it used two years ago and the previous owner had no Idea. but seams do fail, I check my tanks daily to make sure things are all good so It definitly could have been worse. I do collision repair by trade and welded up a nice brace that can hide under the canopy. looks like we were on the same page for that one.

the tank is full and holding the rays look much happier now . I'll move the aro's tomorrow

Good to hear!

i was going to say just make an aluminum brace but it looks like you beat me to it... i had to make up an aluminum brace for my 55 gallon, same deal the center brace seperated from the tank and the glass was bowing out... all good since the repair tho
