For some reason, I've sort of.... Maybe... Gotten bored w/ my 240g tank. Hat would you guys put in it? I'm not a fan of your every day fish, as I currently have a Tigrinus growing out, a marble motoro and black aro to name my favorite fish. What type of pirhanas ? How many? Any chance of any tankmates? I've heard a school of tetras is sometimes possible. I have a chance to pick up some cheap power compacts so I'm looking into some plants. I've never ever considered pirhanas so I'm sure these are total noob questions. Feel free to flame for me not doing research but give me some ideas

about 20 wild caught common rbp would be cool. when you get a bunch they are much less skittish and are fun to watch. mine lived a year with a dozen black skirt tetras and never had a problem. just a bit of advice, add tetras before piranhas and they shouldnt attack. add after and its like everything else going into the tank... lunch

like caribe are cool, but depends on your budget and what time of the year you will be buying them. the one thing i learned was anything that goes in before an established group are friends and anything added is enemy wether it be more piranhas or anything else. also plan on losing a couple when they are young until they establish a "pecking order"

cariba season is usually near/around summer time when there will be babies available at around $20-$40 a piece depends on where you get them from. after the season there won't be any babies until next year so the price goes up or just nothing available unless someone is selling them off.
if you are looking for information on piranhas then check out the stickys and www.opefe.com

Thanks brich. I need to do some research on other species

seen you around, never struck me as the piranha type. if i were in your shoes, i'd want to do a mixed pygo tank with caribe, piraya and wild red bellies. check out the link jp suggested for a ton of piranha info

Ballin- I've never been into pirhanas at all either. Just getting bored w my fish for some reason. Or maybe keeping fish all together. I think if I change, it will be drastic like an all p tank or keep maybe my black aro and marble and tig and adding discus( if that is a feasible combo of tankmates)

Howdy,

I was in the same shoes some years ago. 220 gal. Mixed it up and around from everything like tiny community fish, via some wild caught oddballs, to NGT dats and finally ended up in piranhas.
