240gal...CRACKED SIDE!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
firs i would find out why it cracked. maybe the new stand isn't level ?
if it was me ,i would put a piece of glass on the inside of the tank the
same size of the panel and silicone around it like if it was a new panel .

I personally would silicone a nice big piece on both sides and call it a day. But as mentioned above try to find the reason it cracked.

i would put the patch on the inside with somne silicone,.....then the pressure of the water makes it a tight seal

Okay.. on the photo you posted, it looks like the tank is sat directly onto a piece of furniture. Do you have anything like polystyrene foam underneath the tank? If you were filling it without anything to distribute the weight then that is a potential reason it will crack..
Only going on what I can see from the photo, mind you.

Problem with that crack is that it can still run. Smellslikefish has the right idea on fixing this.

Thanks everyone keep it coming and in the picture its sitting on a 2x4 so i could work on it! and is 1/4 inch thick enough? I did not have padding under it cuz i do not have anything!

Just repair it wit some putty or somethin like that

Glass tanks do not need anything underneath them, they are built to sit on the rim along the bottom.
