25 large dats and 100clown loaches!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no offense bro, but i feel sorry for the dats..... they arent really community group fish like the very happy clown loaches group that you have. so keeping so many together is not quite natural and with a bare tank, i bet they are all bored and stressed as if they feel like they r being trapped inside something .... make some changes and your collection will be great! :D keep up the good work

Not hating but you need a way bigger tank for all those dats as you can see most of them are still stressed and arnt even stable at large sizes. Its not nice anymore when your fishes are just staying at one spot looking at the glass. Sorry but that is just way too overcrowded bro
This guy is the one of the best keeper of dats on MFK, he knows what he's doing. Just look through his thread he has like 10 180 gallon tanks and I'm sure he'll be upgrading to a even larger tank. Also large indos usually become a muddy brown or darker hence they look "unstable".

^ absolutely! and if I'm not wrong I think this is part of an unofficial breeding project.. sort of. once/if they pare off I think they will be put in separate tanks and I've heard rumours of him having a pond.

I don't know but most of the threads he has posted ive seen small tanks..not hating just supporting my statement i feel sorry for the fishes. If he could sell 1-2 of those i'm sure he could afford a big tank for them.

btw breeding project? lol how can you get a pair off with a bunch of dats in a small tank like that? It was even hard to breed them in huge ponds in Thailand..

I see your point and would like to assure you that I am upgrading my tanks and I have a few extras I'm setting up. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142780 Stability dosent always ensure that the datnoids are happy. Some are happy even if unstable. There is no definate answer for the reason of stability. Almost all my dats were grown out from and 1". I can count on 2 hands the amount I purchased at a bigger size. They have grown up together and they tend to school together. I have multiple tanks setup holding different sizes at the moment. 2 75g, 2 120g, 2 125g, 3 180g, 240g(empty), and a 360g(empty). Yes the space for the sheer number of dats may be shocking but with the filtration and water changes I provide keep them all happy and healthy. Dats have always been my number one fish and I have constantly upgraded accordingly to fit their needs. I will continue to do so. We all have a point where we should do something but things happen and we are restricted to make the best out of the situation. Thanks for your concern.
