2600 gallon 'pool' pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
could try the algea filter for this pond. it is a economical diy filter. and the sun will work for you.

Green water is from sun + nutrients and not enough BB to combat the waste. Once the filter gets going it should stablize. A bog is a great idea.

Any plans for plants? They will really help with water quality and clarity. Floaters and lillies help shade the surface, marginals and oxygenators will use extra nutrients in the water column.

I did want planets but for another day

Update: Bad news... after a major rain storm the past week the pool pond found a weak spot and started sagging real bad... so I went ahead and drained it.

I'm going to level the ground better so next time it goes up even.

Also, I'm fighting my wife on filters and UV filters. She doesn't want me to spend anymore money on it.

A bog filter can be made from a used stock tank, pump, and a few PVC fittings and filled with water Lettuce or Hyacinths. Run that before buying a UV.

I have a pool like that and a level spot will help.

I have a pool like that and a level spot will help alot. I don't know if this is going to be a temporary pond, but I have a intex pool liner that I used for my in ground fish pond.
I put sand in the bottom and am putting rocks around the edges....you won't be able to tell that it is a pool liner :)

I'm working on it... digging is slow. With my 5-6 month old daughter inside I can only dig for about 10 minutes at a time. I'm also doing about a 30% water change on the temp tank for the fish a day until it settles in as I have about 6 rosey reds 8 small goldfish and 2 - 3inch koi (in about 15 gal).

Wow! Your whole thing is underground. Nice

the blue tint of your pics might be the white balance , check the functions

Progress is slow, it's still raining alot

This pic is not my idea of a pond as the rains have flooded the area that I have dug (the picture is about 10 days old). I've made some more progress flattening the hump to the right some more, however another big rain storm came through 2 days ago and flooded it again(not as deep this time)
