Thanks guys. The key here I think is the size of the tank. They tend to hangout on the left side for some reason...all of them lol. My managuense is the largest I've ever seen in person I know of a few others on mfk that are/were as big as him. Him and that large female are glorious to watch they go wild when I get in front of the tank and they think they will be fed lol! He's not terribly aggressive. He will flare up sometimes but no one is dumb snuff to challenge him

Freebyrd how large is your Ornatum? My Ornatum that I picked up at 1/2 inch over a year and half ago is now only about 5 inches. By far the slowest growing cichlid I have ever owned.
 
The ornatum grows very slow. Was about 7" when I got it and is now about 8" eye balling and that was about 1 full year. I do bi-weekly water changes at about 50% water, that's about 120g every two weeks or so. I feel like 1" in a year is about average for that species.
