mya - Yes, I resealed the tank with RTV 108 (anyone who has discussed silicone with me knows my stance on this superior product). It wasn't leaking, but I did see a little algae growth beneath some of the silicone. Since it was drained and on dollies in my garage, I decided to strip it down and reseal it since you get very few opportunities to do so.
RTV108 is a superior product for several reasons. It is a silicone adhesive that is FDA approved for food and human contact. It is certified to be 100% silicone with no chance to leech any chemicals - into you or your tank. It is also rated as an adhesive at 40lbs/sq in. It is 99% of the time special ordered on the internet, so you won't find it at Home Depot.
Thanks Phull. I've been lurking for a few years after leaving the staff at the other place. Posting here and there, but mainly staying in the background. it's great to see so many familiar "faces" that remember me
