My friends 30" aro did the same thing. Ive had a couple small eels crawl out on me before I learned to seal a tank properly and even that was depressing. Sorry for your loss.

When they get that big they need big enclosures, not just a tank a big open area otherwise they are not happy fish. I love the way they look but I wouldn't have another unless I had a min.600 gal set up? Sorry for the loss try a black much calmer.

I have a 24 inch aro hes very strong, I have a 56 lb canopy on top with loncks on the two opening lids on top making it impossible for him to get out my fear comes when I clean the tank, sry for your loss good news is they grow super quick if you kno how to feed them to grow mine ate mostly carnysticks and blood worms he grew about 3 inches+ a month.
