Hi,

I have been offered a 27" Silver Arowana for free, I have the necesary sixe tank to house this mighty fish but I do have some questions.

1, How the hell do I get a 27" Aro Home???

2, My Light tubes are exposed would a jump from this break them as there is no chance of it being able to jump out of the tank???

My tank is 200 US Gal and filtered by 2 external 130 US Gal filters.

3, If the aro was the only fish in this tank would I be able to take one of the filter off???

Would greately appreciate your input ppl.

Thanks

is 200 enough? not sure on that one. sounds great though if you can care for it. i would worry about lights if they are really close to the surface water

if you dont have a glass lid as well, I wouldnt be getting the aro, mine jumped out during a cleaning once, was fun trying to grab it to throw it back in and he is only about 18" Imagine it could jump at any time... my tank is only uncovered about 45 minutes a week... I wouldnt want an uncovered aquarium with an aro.

27" = large rubber maid tub for transport

I would cover the lights and add weight on top of the cover.

I would also leave the filter setup if not add more

200g. is enuf

just my .02

congrats and gud luck

Awesome!

A larger rubber made, or even better a cooler

If you had glass lids, you would want to secure them. If the aro jumped it has enough power to knock them up and shatter the bulb. There is also a plastic tube made to go over bulbs to contain the glass in case of a break.

My tank is 200 US Gal and filtered by 2 external 130 US Gal filters.

3, If the aro was the only fish in this tank would I be able to take one of the filter off???
What are the dimensions? One of those filters (Assuming you have adequate media and flow) would filter that tank fine.

Would greately appreciate your input ppl.

The lights would worry me........
If the tank is 3 foot wide the aquarium would work...
You absolutely need a top that is weighted.......
Big Rubbermaid for transportation......

Simply put Arowanas jump. At some point they will jump. Your lid needs to be weighted and no openings that the fish could possibly fit though. Do your best to make it so if your aro does jump it can't get injured. So ya gotta do something different with the lights.

200 gallon is a little small for a fully grown aro. Please provide the demensions of you tank.

I would leave the setup with two filters, why skimp when it comes to water quality for your fish. Also aros trive with high quality water you should do a weekly water change. Do a % that keeps your nitrates below 20 ppm If your filters are doing the job you amonia and nitrites will be at zero.
