270 gallon filtration and heating

Still not sure I understand why you pointed out to my why it was in a shed. Regardless I do agree, a barrel can be used for a filter. That said I personally find them harder to plumb into the system. If you want it under your tank you need a really tall stand unlike if you have a regular sump they usually fit no problem.

That and K1 is really expensive, it would be close to $400 to fill a 55 barrel from the prices I've seen. It is an option but I feel like it can be done cheaper and work just as well.
I don't have enough room inside of my house for all of my existing tanks so I am going to put them in a shed and I will also have room for a large tank. I am pointing out that it will be in a shed because I will have very limited space.

I am using a k1 barrel on my pond and I never got it to fluidize so I need to change the plumbing. I'd like to go the sump route, but I am limited on space. Would an ultima II 1000 work JK47 JK47 ?

An Ultima will only work on a tank that can support a lower water level and still be running. If it has overflow towers it would require modification to work. Additionally with an Ultima you would need to filter mechanically first. I would do a cheaper route in this case.

Just insulate the shed and keep shed at proper tempature, additional power can be collected by wind turbine or solar

I am going to insulate it with fiberglass. I would love to eventually get solar panels, but they are expensive. I am probably just going to run 2 or maybe 3 20 amp lines from the house out to the shed. The shed will be right next to the house, so it should be easy.

That I understand, I saw it in your first post. I get that you are planning to build a shed and understand why. Just not sure why it was pointed out to me again when I just said you should go the sump route.

Being limited on space is exactly why I'd go the sump route. You can build your stand in a way so that the sump will fit under the tank. Sump if well planned can have all the filtration that you need.
