Normal household CFL bulbs in natural day light or cool blue usually run about 6000k and work fine. You could find them anywhere at a fraction of the cost of specialty bulbs.

Yep, i used the natural light ones at meijers.
I have used a 2700k on two tanks with out a problem, it works fine, i had it with a Co2 tank with ferts and a none co2 tank. It just looked a little yellowish. From my understanding its just a little more at one spectrum then the other k bulbs, but they are still getting the full or most of the spectrum.

I ended up buying a new fixture. If it's this hard to find the bulb all the time, I might as well get a fixture that has a normal socket so it'll be easier to find bulbs in the future. I may still want to use the PC light though. Here's some shot of the tank. Since I'm trying my hands at CO2 and HC for the first time, figured I better get the lighting right too.

Nice, looks good and I bet once it starts growing and gets established it'll be really nice. What kind of fixture did you get?

I ended up getting a Zoo Med Naturalistic Terrarium Hood and I have a Coralife 10w Mini CFL
